Cutting pollution is a focus for investors

When looking at environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors, we know that environmental factors receive the most media coverage. But the environmental category is a single term that covers a broad range of areas.

To investigate which areas were most prominent in individuals’ minds, we asked them to rate the importance of different environmental factors when looking at their investments.

The factor that came out top was supporting cuts to pollution and carbon emissions, with 71.3% of investors saying it was an important or vital consideration.

The second most important environmental factor was supporting the preservation of natural capital, with 71% of investors rating it as an important or vital consideration. In third place, was avoiding water waste. With 70.6% of investors voting it as an important or vital consideration.
